The long haul

Saturday morning was the birthday death ride for Mike Padgett. Eddie(pictured), Mike, Santiago, Ruben and myself rolled out of our home sites about 5am, met up 20 minutes later out on the road, and headed west. 107 was full of blinking tail lights and Lycra this early morning.
After 2.5 hours we were greeted to this. All of us were still feeling pretty fresh as we headed out towards McCook on back farm roads.

This was a lot of what we saw while off-road, rolling hills, and wide open Texas skies.

Santiago was strong all day.

Padgett was our beacon of light, even when we didn't need the damn light.

After about 60 miles we headed back south on yet another dirt road. We ran into a bit of mud that forced us into our only hike and bike section of the day. I could tell you what Eddie was saying, but I like to keep this a little cleaner than that.

We were most definitely head turners with the ladies out there.
The pace fell off a bit later on and I was going to be late for work if I continued with the group. Though I split off from them, I still put in 86.5 miles at 5:52.The rest of the crew did 101 miles in 7hrs........... It was a great day on the bike.
