Another good weekend of training wrapped up, even if I got slammed with wind/rain Sat. in the dirt and cold temp./wind Sun. on the road.
Sullivan City was the destination Sat. a.m. for a couple hrs on the mountain bike, just to get everything sorted out equipment wise for next wknds Fat Chucks Marathon. The Anthem did need a little shifting adj., and some more Stans post ride, but she's ready for next weekend now.
Sundays road ride was cold once again, at least by RGV standards. We were greeted by clear skies, 40 degree temps and a strong north wind. A good group headed out, battled the wind for a while and caught a flier back to town, with speeds up to 35-36 mph as the testosterone flowed off the carbon fiber like water off a ........well you get the picture. I was supposed to stay in "endurance" zone yesterday for a couple hrs, no higher than 153bpm, but even my manliness (or lack thereof) proved too much as I would try and match some fast efforts. Some were successful, some not so much.
Now my taper begins for the previously mentioned Fat Chucks Revenge. I have a little unfinished business to take care of (more on that after next weekend). It's the last race in the marathon series, so I want to finish up strong. Eddie is crewing again, he's already asking about the keg, that's my boy!
I usually don't like to look ahead at races, but I can't help but get a little revved up about the Cohutta 100. All the logistics are pretty much taken care of, and there's still almost 2 months to wait, but this is going to be pure brutality.........I can't wait!
