Sundays 4+ hr mtb ride brought just 1 taker to tag along, South Tex bad ass, Mike Padgett. There's one thing you can always count on with Mike, he'll ride as long as you want as hard as you want. The man can suffer like few others.
So off we went at about 730am, taking in back roads/levees down to Mission to spend a couple hrs at the trails down there.
I had a new "creak" going on with the Anthem, I mean completely new, it wasn't there last ride. After a couple stops to tighten the seat and seatpost, one more turn on the rear scewer to tighten it up fixed the problem.......thanks Mike, I never would have thought of that one.
Not much traffic early for us on the trails. The new sections cut in by the Cactus Cruzers is impressive indeed. It's twists and turns keeps the tech. skills sharp, while the "not open to the public" back side has some open sections to open up the motor a bit and hammer down.
After fulfilling my single track urge, Mike and I took back to the roads for the ride home. The SE wind was great going north, but whenever we turned east, it was a mutha. Good to drain the reserves and see just how much power I've gained in the past months. I think I've improved a bit.
Back home in just over 4 hrs, 55+ miles in the books. A good day in the saddle.
