.......6 hrs @Brownsville was a success. The start was Lemans style, about 500yds worth that really blew. Got out on the bike in 4th, moved into 1st about 1/2 lap later. I really pushed the pace for a couple hrs to create a gap. The lead grew steadily each lap, getting up to about 8 min at the end over 2nd place. There were uncomfortable times out there today, it was pretty warm, humid and windy.......big surprise there. I wanted to use today as a good tune-up for the Cohutta 100 later this month, which will be a couple hrs longer most likely. I ended up with 75 miles in 6:05 which wasn't too bad. The U.S.A group did a great job putting on the race as usual. They out do themselves every time I race down there.........I salute you Meri and crew!
No time for no stinking rest, 3 hrs tomorrow on the mtn bike, gots to get used to suffering. 3 weeks to the biggy out Tennessee way.
