Last weekend block of training in before Wilderness 101 next Sat. I've been trying some new hydration set-ups for the race so I used it for my 3 hrs on the mtn bike yesterday. All thumbs up as far as that goes.
The W101 sends us out for, you guessed it, 101 miles and 11,000 total ft of climbing. The elevation profile looks like a saw blade, up and down all day long. A mixture of trails and jeep roads through the Pennsylvania countryside.
After a 28th @ Cohutta and a 24th @ Mohican I'm looking to break the top 20 this time. That will be no easy feat though, I'm sure the field will be as strong as the past races have been.
Scott will be meeting me at the airport, so I'll have a teammate this weekend. Not only does it help splitting up the cost of the trip, but if I can manage to keep up with him, I can get some help in the race.
Forecast calls for temps around 80 degrees all weekend. That is going to be SU-weet after being over 100 down here everyday this month.
