To put it bluntly, I rode like a small child today. The 5400ft of climbing per lap at elevation cooked me in 1 lap. I called it quits shortly after the start of lap 2. My first DNF ever, and I feel pretty damn bad about it too. It's a hell of a long way to come for that kind of effort.
I wasn't too far out of the picture after that first lap, 11th, but once I hit that big climb back out of the start/finish area, I new I didn't have much left for lap 2.
So much for my sea level to 10,000 ft race experiment......it didn't work.

dude, you should have asked me. I've already done this experiment in Copper Triangle,CO
We'll just call this one a learning experience. Damn elevation.
The boy did a super job! and the best part is he didn't leave his crew out on the course.
heyy farmer don't beat yourself up, mike padgett is bad luck man! it's his fault!! HAHAHAHAHA..
sry about ur dnf, im sure it wasnt easy for u to make that choice! we all know ur one tough mofo!!
I'm not bad luck!!!!
I just drain all the energy from the people that I support (remember 24 hrs)
I felt good after the race.
ALSO if that riding is like "a little child" I want to be like a little child.
Don't be too hard on yourself. I live in Dallas and went up to the Breck 100 last year to get a big ol' fat dnf as well. The altitude is like kryptonite. Oh, and you kicked my ass at Fat Chuck's Revenge. Not that that is really saying much though. Keep livin' the drea man!
