Post T-S shananigans

So post Tahoe-Sierra 100 I was a bit tired, could have had something to do with 9.5 hrs on the bike on Sat. I took Sunday off completely, watched some football and strolled around South lake Tahoe a bit.

Headed up to Redding, my old stomping grounds, to see some friends and family, but most of all went up to ride the trails.

Monday afternoon met Zac and Darold and proceeded to hit up the trails past my old house. That's right, just three houses down from my old pad, started miles of tasty single track. Hit up some of the old one's and some new one's that had been cut since I left. Even tested out the bike skills on the teeter-totter and elevated log ride.......and was successful. Put in a good 2.5 hrs and was back to Darolds for a shower and out for some tasty Mexican food.

12 hrs later, I was applying the chammy cream once again(still a bit chapped form T-S) and off to meet Steve from my old Visenka team(with Zac in tow) for some more sampling of dirt.

This time we headed farther west, into Whiskeytown Park, which entailed more climbing, but all worth the effort. We even rode some of the old mining ditches from the early 1900's that were used haul the gold pulled out of the many mines littering the area.

Another 2.5 hrs later, we parted with Steve, showered up and headed back over to Tahoe.

Wednesday was spent goofing around once again, eating anything I could get my face in front of and swilling a few adult beverages.

Thursday was spent in the cool thin air riding the high alpine trails of SLT. Zac and I rode up the road to Heavenly ski resort, and found a trail that skirted the mountainside for a good 10 miles or so. After slogging up the trail past a couple of the chair lifts, we were rewarded with some fun, fast descents back into town and to the house.

More Lazy days Friday, got the biked packed up to fly, and was up early Saturday for the flight back home. Not before one last image heading down the hill.

This wasn't the place we stayed, but a cool little lodge in Strawberry, CA just down the road.

Now I look forward to some down time, which includes time OFF the bike completely. I get to catch up on stuff around the house, and plan my next course of action in terms of riding/racing......or not..........?
