Let's build a base shall we?

My first "run specific" base building week is in the books. Stayed on the trails to give my knees a break. Managed 5 of 7 days, almost 5 total hrs and 30 miles. Good for an easy week. Knees and ankles feel good,and just a little leg soreness.
You can kind of see where my focus is heading toward 2010 now, right? I'm putting myself on track for a marathon by June, and a 50 miler in the Fall. Staying with my mountain bike roots, they'll be off-road, way more fun than pounding the pavement. All this towards the grand daddy of trail running, the Western States 100 in June 2011(a little birthday present to myself). It's a lottery to get in to the race, so there's a little luck involved as well as having to meet certain qualification standards.
So there you have it, I now have a goal to work towards. I feel much better now.
