Whaaat? Read on, it's been an interesting coupla' days.
I had the use of a new demo bike from work. 2009 Fisher HiFi Pro 2-niner. Put it through the ringer Friday @ Mission Trails, where it was super smooth, flowed well and was just plain fun to ride. Saturday headed out to Sullivan City, where the constant short punchy climbs(and the fact I had about 160 miles in my legs for the week, the bike weighs in at 32 lbs. and is a dually) made the overall ride of the bike seem sluggish. Still, I liked the big wheels and the way they rode. Just would like to have one at 22 lbs instead.
It was also a weekend for big pigs, two to be exact. One of the feral variety that wanted to run with me at about 18mph down the middle of the trail(that's some fast bacon) and another that crossed in front of me out at SC. This bad boy was wild, at least 350-400lbs, black and hairy, and had some tusks hangin' out just in case I got too close. Of course I didn't, but it crossed over the trail twice rearing it's ugly head......and I mean ugly.
And what would a day on the bike down here near the Mexican border be without a helicopter chase of a very fast moving Chevy Tahoe? Well, we got a first hand look. There were a couple vehicles hauling ass around the dirt roads out there for about a 1/2 hour, before the heli showed up and started the pursuit......siren blaring, about 100 feet(or what seemed like it) off the ground. We just happened to be up on one of the higher parts of the area and got a birds eye view of the chase, the heli landing, agents jumping out, said Tahoe skidding to a stop, and everyone running like a swarm of pissed off killer bees(we have those down here too). Soon we couldn't see anything as the swarm went into the lush vegetation near the Rio Grande river, but we could hear all the shouting.
See, I told ya' it was an interesting coupla' days. How am I supposed to top that!

Marcos and I were riding on Military Road at the RR tracks. The helicopter was waiting. When the SUV went by the helicopter turned his siren on and they were speeding toward the river. Marcos got a photo of the helicopter on the ground.
So when you getting a 29er?
Actually really like the Giant XTC 29er. With that XT group on it, really can't beat my EP price...and the rear dropouts for SS conversion.
